Aloha Friday #5

Kailani over at http://islandlife808.com/ runs an Aloha Friday. It's so much fun to visit everyone's blogs and see their question of the week.

I also love reading the comments that everyone posts here.

Here's my question for this week:

When you want a quick but nutritious meal, what do you make?

Audrey :)

I make black bean burritos on whole wheat tortillas--it has protein and whole grains and is quick to make

Whole wheat bread, roasted turkey breast, tomato, lettuce, and a wee bit of mayo. Usually a cup of fruit as well.

A meal? Hmmm....

I guess I make Turkey Chili with Flaxseed. I get to give my family fiber and they don't even know it!

I think a lunchmeat sandwich is the quickest healthy meal you can make. I also like fish because you season it and pop it in the oven and it's done in 20 minutes :)

Quick but nutritious meal...for me or the fam? If it's just me, homemade bread (toasted) with peanut butter and homemade marmelade. Om nom nom.

If it's the family...boil whole wheat pasta, throw in some veggies in the last few minutes, and toss with either a jar of cheese sauce (not healthy, but definitely quick) or give it a quick stir fry with some olive oil and Maggi.

I love to eat oatmeal with blueberries and one tablespoon of brown sugar. Just enough sweetness with warmth to feel better. And it's quick and easy. Probably takes a bout 10 minutes tops. For an even quicker one, I love Whole Soy soy yogurt. Very tasty!

Sometime I supplement a healthy frozen side dish, with a peanut butter sandwich, cottage cheese, milk, and a piece of fruit.
