1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup margarine at room temperature
1 egg white
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 to 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Cream together the sugars and margarine. Add in the vanilla and egg white and mix well.
Mix in the flour, baking soda and salt. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Drop by teaspoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees 9-11 minutes.
This recipe makes about 16 cookies. This was just perfect. When portioned out with ingredients, this came to about half the amount of calories as a regular chocolate chip cookie only 60-70 calories each.

They look good. sandie
I love baking with whole wheat flour--at first, I was scared to do it, but when you combine it with white flour, it always turns out well! These look beautiful (and tasty!).
Wow, those cookies look great--and with 1/2 the calories, what's not to love?
Looks like a great recipe!
Wow - that is a lot of calories for a regular cookie! I had no idea. Thanks for sharing the lightened up version :)
They look great. i guess for them to truly be nondairy you have to buy the dark chocolate chips.
Yum! One of my all time favorite cookies! I used to try to make healthy versions but they did not taste good. I bet yours taste great though
You come up with some of the most wonderful (and delicious!) things Audrey, and I thank you so much for sharing them here.

Mmmm!! I'm all about the healthier version now. I'm on Weight Watchers, so this recipe is just what I need!
Oh I love chocolate chip cookies! And with 1/2 the calories even better!
Now a less calorie chocolate chip cookie recipe is one I can use and not feel bad about!
Love that they're slightly healthier! It takes a little of the guilt away!
These were so delicious and I loved that they were crispy! :)
